C2 Education has an exciting new opportunity for an Academic Counselor to join our team in Cupertino!  The Academic Counselor will be committed to providing professional guidance on academic and scholastic development for our students who come to C2 Education.  This position is for someone who is passionate about helping students reach their educational goals, and is eager to help students discover their academic strength.  Our Academic Counselor will be a resource for our students and their families, ensuring that they identify their talents and reach their full potential.

The focus of the Academic Counselor will be on student collegiate development and progression, not only through C2 Educations program, but through the admissions process and in to the University of their dreams. Responsibilities of the Academic Counselor include:

  • Strategically plan, develop, and execute a comprehensive academic roadmap for C2 Education students that adds value and competitive advantage for our customers. Specific focus will be on students competing for admissions to highly selective colleges
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on top and local university and admissions process related topics and procedures; as well as the greater Cupertino high school community.
  • Interface with parents and supporting families in coordination with and guidance from the Center Director
  • Advise on specific degree requirements for college admissions, current high school curriculum, and course selection
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance in order to provide appropriate support or advice in overcoming academic roadblocks
  • Keep up to date on the latest C2 curriculum, packages and services we offer, and other related educational news
  • Support, advise, and develop strong relationships with Center Director and other C2 Staff. Participate in team meetings as needed
  • The Academic Counselor will report directly to the Center Director and will partner closely with the Office of Education Excellence
  • Lead and deliver educational presentations to local academic and commercial communities on C2’s mission, services, and results
  • Attend professional and collegiate associations, committees, workshops, and other means of networking to build and maintain college connections
  • Regular field visits to high schools and other academic and civil organizations in surrounding community; liaise with appropriate staff
  • Aid in the retention and re-enrollment of current C2 students
  • Engage in other activities as required to fulfill the role


Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

Strongly considered candidates will:

  • Have a passion for working with K-12 community; particularly high school age students
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Have proven organizational skills
  • Have the ability to work in a team setting; also have the ability to travel as needed
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree
  • Have 6-10 years of student development, college counseling, and/or college admissions experience.
  • Have experience working in an admissions setting with a highly regarded college
  • Experience leading presentations and meetings
  • Have experience creating positive opportunities for students and their families
  • Have experience working with school communities/established relationships
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs, etc
  • Detail Oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Have the desire to grow and take initiative
